Chapter 3
LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO A FRIEND

The friend I want to talk about is God 7, the Creator of the universe.

He wrote a letter addressed to His creature, us men; this letter is the Bible, the Word of God.

When you read the Bible you have to see it as something personal, addressed to us. The foundation of the Christian faith is the Bible, the Word of God 8. Without possibilities of modifications. Even the interpretation of a certain passage has to be confirmed by other passages and by the common interpretation of the Church, understood as the ensemble of the believers.
So without the shadow of a doubt, as believers we can state that God talks to us through the Bible, directly, individually, and this is why it is called the living Word 9.
The wonderful reality of a friendship with God is that it can be experienced by anyone anywhere, in any moment, as long as you follow the rules of the friendship 10.

How can I say that God is my best friend and that I believe in the one and only God? The easiest way would be to look at me and how I used to be before I knew Him. Instead I will try to describe how to become God's friend and how your life can change when you know Him.

To become friends with God you must open your eyes 11, draw near to him 12 with humility and sincerity.

You have to go before Him in silence, in his light 13, allowing it to shine in the dark places 14 of your being. It's necessary to identify and recognize your spiritual filthiness, made up of bad thoughts, hate, evil actions, fornication and adultery 15.
You must tell Him that you want to abandon all these things because they are wrong. Recognize sin and call it with it's own name (sin is the transgression of the law) 16, having the courage to expose it in prayer 17, directly to Christ, without intermediaries 18, without hindrance or fear, for God is a true friend. His light and the blood of Jesus purify everything 19.

On the emotional level, there is nothing extraordinary in a friendship with God, except for the ceasing of the anguish of death 20. Before you know Him you resemble a man who wants to build a house, who searches for the right ground, but never finds the courage to begin the job.
When I discovered this friendship I saw that there was a nice ground for me to start building on, my fear disappeared, my insecurity and uncertainty ceased, and my continuos research for new experiences ended.

Now I have a mission to pursue 21, I have an important relationship to cultivate and I have to contribute to building an immense and fantastic building 22, which is the body of Christ 23, the Church seen as the ensemble of all the believers in the world of all ages.

In this friendship of mine there are series of conversations, of exchanges.

I want to share some of them with others, in this thirsty century, the marvelous reality of knowing the living God, the Almighty.
